A little preview of what I’ve been doing in my game dev cave the last month or so. Yay new environment! More preview captures to come ^_^ #vrgame #oculus #virtualreality #vr #deadbugcreek #gamedev #desert #indiedev #wip #makinshit

You’re an alien abductee who’s been booted off a UFO into a strange desert town, somehow even weirder than your abduction experience itself.
Officially launching April 2015, Big Bug Creek is a narrative VR experience created by me, Ashley Pinnick. It explores a world inspired by my childhood memories growing up in the rural Sonoran Desert. Everything’s in flux at the moment, so I’m opening up a work in progress build that’s open to anyone to download & try out. This is a delicate time in the process of making something, and it is very much unfinished. However, I’m happy to receive any feedback and to share my work with anyone who’s interested.
PM me if you’d like to download and play the game, i’ll send you a link.
I’ve also been working these past couple months on a VR experience using Oculus Rift. It’s definitely been a crazy term, and I’m intimidated about finishing this project before I graduate this April, but it’s been a helluva lot of fun figuring it all out.
Now I’m finally moving onto rigging and animating my characters, plus adding their voices, music, and interactivity for the first portion of it, plus adding some more details to the environment, etc. Here are some WIP screenshots for now.
So this term I’ve been MIA. But for good reason! I’m killing myself designing an exhibition about escapism, WIPs of interior interactive graphics & a rough 3D model of the space pictured here. Learning so much and super excited to have an outlet for all my pop culture knowledge.
A little WIP of an N64 style video game my boyfriend & I will be developing over the next, forever? Character sketches and things above.
Work in progress!

I’ve been at Art Center for a couple of years now, and the real reason beyond illustration that I chose my college was because of Designmatters. It’s a department geared toward social impact, non-profit work, all that sort of thing. Their involvement in my life the last few years has been game changing for me. Recently I was humbled to have been asked to be featured on their website and talk a bit about what I’ve learned so far. Check it out if you feel like it. It’s a bit formal, but all the same.
